How to get there
Trailhead Access
The route begins in an area known as Bajío del Arenal, where the ejido General Lázaro Cárdenas, from Zapopan, is located. To get there, we can go to the JVC Circuit, at Akron Stadium, heading to the road to Vallarta. Before reaching the road to Vallarta, we will arrive at an area of courts and schools. There we turn to Avenida del Bajío (on the left, between the ONCE School and the Cuahtémoc University). This avenue ends at a roundabout where the Signos School and the Pan-American Village are located. In that roundabout there is a booth to the ejido; we can tell the guard that we are going to walk into the woods and he should give us access, without problem, to the cobblestone road, where we will begin the tour.
Parking Information
This time I parked on the river, but we can also park on the side of the cobblestone road, without hindering traffic or access to the properties.
Fees & Park Hours
As of January 15, 2025, this route does not involve access costs.
Trail Overview
This route Demands good sense of location and technical knowledge ; not recommended for beginners: The first section, up to the “Right” and “Up” Waypoints, seems to be frequented by motorcyclists; up to this point the road can be a bit confusing, but following the canyon and the few marks we will arrive. The risk areas (“Upward” and “Confused Zone” waypoints) are the most dangerous, as this is where we will have to climb unstable terrain and motorcycles do not circulate in this area; it is practically a very isolated area. No safety equipment is required, but good technique and shoes with good grip are required. Later, from the waypoint “End of climb” to the WP “Tejabán”, there is no marked path and it is time to go cross-country. There's no loss, it's just about moving forward through the grass. Afterwards, the road to the Tower is visible and the descent is also along a clear path.
